Professor 0mar Faruq is specially trained in Critical Care Medicine in America and has achieved the first FCCM from the American College of Critical Care Medicine for his special role in the activities of Critical Care Medicine in Bangladesh. In 1990 he passed the American Board of Emergency Medicine and he was re-certified in 2001; In 2006, he achieved an FCPS degree in Medicine. He started the first MD Course in Critical Care Medicine in the country. Before joining United Hospital, he worked as a Professor of the Critical Care Medicine Department at BIRDEM General Hospital, Dhaka since 1996.
