Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT) has a rich and diverse history around the world. The field of HBOT continues to evolve and grow. Indications approved byUndersea Hyperbaric Medical Society are showing conclusive results and new indications are undergoing research and clinical trials. As this specialization evolves, more patients will benefit from improved techniques and protocols, broadening the scope with which HBOT is used. Studies have shown that HBOT can improve motor functions and memory loss of post stroke patients. Identifying appropriate patients and determining the optimal HBOT therapy dose are still an imprecise science and further research in these areas will contribute to improve the cost-effectiveness of this treatment.First treatment with HBOT was started at Dhaka Medical College Hospital on August 2015. Many patients completed the HBOT for various reasons like burns, diabetic foot, radionecrotic wound, non-healing wound, refractory haemorrhagic cystis following radiotherapy or chemotherapy, Idiopathic sensorineural hearing loss, compromised skin graft/flap, neuropathy, post stroke motor and memory loss. Results are promising. HBOT may be an adjunct for many hopeless disease. Fortunately, serious side effects of HBOT therapy are rare.
