Abstract

The World Health Organization has identified antimicrobial resistance to be one of the top ten biggest global health threats facing humanity and is responsible for 1.3 million deaths a year globally. This talk aims to cover some of the new beta lactam/ beta lactamase inhibitor combinations and their uses. At the same time, we hope to focus on how other than coming up with new and innovative antibiotics, infection prevention and antibiotic stewardship remain important aspects in combating the rise of antimicrobial resistance.
